The Industrial Revolution 4.0 today has brought significant impacts to various aspects. It is believed that new skills and knowledge are required in modern world and this triggers a massive human resource development that should be considered by a country. As an institution with broad roles, a higher education institution has strong responsibilities to enhance young generation’s competencies through teaching and research activities. Therefore, it is required to accommodate ideas and researches on how the education institutions respond to the development of relevant human competencies and how the technology can solve today’s modern cases. This book chapter describes the human resource governance in the industrial era 4.0 and examples of technology applications bringing multiplier effects carried out by several scholars. It has three main parts in which the concept of modern human resource development is described in part one. Then, the second part elaborates the challenges and strategies of human resources development demonstrated in a higher education institution. The part three illustrates current engineering researches that may provide future research opportunities on how the technology brings sustainable impacts. Finally, this book chapter is highly recommended for decision makers in making the strategic decisions as well as unleashing the potential of human resources.
