The Analysis of Bald On-Record Politeness Strategy in “Thor : Love and Thunder” (2022) Dialogue ; Descriptive Analysis on Movie Script

This study aims to analyse several utterances in a movie script using several theories in pragmatics and politeness strategy. The theories in politeness strategy used to analyse and classify the utterance into five sub-strategies of bald on-record politeness strategy. This research uses qualitative approach. It is conducted by using descriptive qualitative method because the result of analysing the utterances is kinds of sub strategy from bald on-record politeness. The research object of this study is Thor Love and Thunder (2022) movie script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. The research data are collected from several utterances from several characters in Thor Love and Thunder (2022) movie script. The result of this research are the types of bald on-record sub strategies found in the utterance are showing disagreement, giving suggestions or advice, request or task-oriented, warning or threatening and great urgency. From the data found and analysing the utterance, I conclude that utterances in Thor Love and Thunder (2022) used mostly bald on-record strategy to convey great urgency in a situation with 13 utterances out of 30 utterances found
