Newmark’s Translation Techniques In Toy Story 4 Movie Script
This study aims to analyze and describe words, phrases, and clauses in a movie script using translation techniques. This research used qualitative approach and utilized a descriptive qualitative method to answer specific questions regarding the data. The object of this reseach is Toy Story 4 movie script, written by Andrew Stanton and Stephany Folsom. To determine the translation techniques used, the researcher compared the original text and the Indonesian language text. The research shows that there are 46 data which are sparated into five techniques: word for word (1), literal (21), faithful (3), free (15) and idiomatic (6). The results of this study shows that translators applied various translation techniques to overcome the challenges that arise in the translation process from the source language to the target language. These translation techniques also aim to ensure that the original message is preserved as accurately as possible in the target language. This reseach underlines the importance of the translator competence in selecting and applying the most appropriate techniques for each particular translation situation.
