The Reflections Of Liberal Feminism In Movie Script Barbie (2023)
This research examines the movie script of Barbie (2023) by Greta Gerwig & Noah Baumbach, through the lenses of liberal feminism, gender equality, and leadership styles, focusing on the characters Barbie Margot and Ken Ryan Gosling. The research employs an intrinsic approach to analyze characterization, plot, and setting, combined with an extrinsic approach using Rosemarie Tong liberal feminism theory. The findings reveal that Barbie embodies the principles of liberal feminism, advocating for women's rights and equality through her actions and decisions. This study employs a qualitative approach through a literature review. Ken character, on the other hand, highlights traditional gender roles and the challenges of evolving into a more egalitarian figure. The narrative explores the dynamics of gender equality, showcasing the struggles and triumphs of both characters as they navigate their roles in a changing society. This study emphasizes the importance of strong female leadership and the need for balanced gender representation in media. The conclusions drawn from this analysis contribute to a deeper understanding of how the character can influence and reflect societal attitudes towards gender and leadership.
