The project discussed the speech act of apologizing. I assumed that the speech act of apologizing without using a performative verb has the same intends and purpose as the speech act of apologizing which uses a performative verb. In
order to prove my assumption, I conducted the research on speech act in general. I discussed some theories, concepts and ideas concerning speech act and speech act of apologizing and the methodology of the research in details.
I analyzed the speech act of apologizing without using a performative verb. The findings prove that my assumption was true, i.e., that the speech act of apologizing without using a performative verb has the same intends and purpose as
the speech act of apologizing which uses a performative verb.
